Bohren & der Club of Gore - Prowler

Here's something for fans of David Lynch movies. One might say this is doom-noir jazz.

Earthride - Vampire Circus Live

I really like Earthride. They are the epitome of pure old-fashioned Maryland doom.

13 Years Of Grief

I'm not real fond of Zakk Wylde, but this song, 13 Years Of Grief, is a heavy fuckin' tune by Black Label Society. As an added treat, the bass playing of Robert Trujillo is truly epic.

Elder

Taken from Concrete Lo-Fi Records:
Elder is "a sludge fan's wet dream with furious, Sabbath tinged riffs, huge bass, screaming vocals, elephantine tempos and some awesome lead work that sounds straight out of the Maryland doom scene," says Hellride Music.

The three piece from Fairhaven, Massachusetts is one of the most promising stoner/doom bands on the horizon, with elements of stoner and psych surrounding their massive sludgy core. The band's 2006 split with Queen Elephantine established the group and it's only going to get better from here.

Elder is Nick Disalvo, Chas Mitchell, and Matt Couto.

Sleep - Dragonaut

Slayer's Skeletons Of Society

Slayer is not really considered a doom band, per se, but these lyrics are definitely doom-inspired and very pertinent to the day in which we live. One of my favorite songs, Skeletons Of Society:

Minutes seem like days
Since fire ruled the sky
The rich became the beggars
And the fools became the wise
Memories linger in my brain
Of burning from the acid rain
A pain I never have won

Nothing here remains
No future and no past
No one could foresee
The end that came so fast
Hear the prophet make his guess
That paradise lies to the west
So join his quest for the sun

Shades of death are all I see
Fragments of what used to be

The world slowly decays
Destruction fills my eyes
Harboring the image
Of a spiraling demise
Burning winds release their fury
Simulating judge and jury
Drfiting flurries of pain

Deafening silence reigns
As twilight fills the sky
Eventual supremacy
Daylight waits to die
Darkness always calls my name
A pawn in this recurring game
Humanity going insane

Shades of death are all I see
Skeletons of Society
Shades of death are all i see
Fragments of what used to be
Skeletons of Society

Minutes seem like days
Corrosion fills the sky
Morbid dreams of anarchy
Brought judgment in disguise
Memories linger in my brain
Life with nothing more to gain
Perpetual madness remains

Shades of death are all I see
Skeletons of society
Shades of Death are all i see
Fragments of what used to be
Skeletons of society

New Album By Electric Wizard

Read a most excellent review of Electric Wizard's new album, Witchcult Today by Hellride's Chris Barnes. Great writing!
